Throughout this month of August, our heroic revels moved from the Matumbi Hills in the southern part Tanzania and attacked German garrisons throughout the colony. The attack on Ifakara, on August 16, destroyed the small German garrison and opened the way to the key fortification at Mahenge. Though the southern garrison was quite small, their fortifications and modern weapons gave them an advantage. At Mahenge, several thousand of our warriors, led by another spirit medium, marched on the German cantonment, which was defended by Lieutenant von Hassel with sixty African soldiers, a few hundred loyal tribesmen, and two machine guns. The two attacking tribes disagreed on when to attack and were unable to co-ordinate.

The first attack was met with gunfire from 1000 meters, and after the tribesmen had stood firm for about a quarter hour they broke and retreated. After the first attack, a second column of 1,200 men advanced from the east. Some of these attackers were able to get within three paces of the firing line before they were killed.

For the last couple of weeks we have talked about some of our people have form troops from all over land that have been token over by the Germans. I think its safe now to let you all know that the person who is responsible for this heroic act is Kinjikitile "Bokero" Ngwale. Kinjikitile was born in Tanzania. Kinjikitile claimed to have communicated with the deity Bokera through the spirit Hongo. He encouraged his followers to overlook tribal differences and unite against the Germans. He told his followers that their ancestors had commanded him to lead a rebellion against Germany. 

Our man are poorly armed with cap guns, spears, and arrows, sometimes poisoned. However, there are numerous of us and, as we mention before that there might be a magical medicine, believed that they could not be harmed because the German's bullets would turn to water. They have started marching from their villages wearing millet stalks around their foreheads. Initially they attacked small outposts and have damaged cotton plants. Just the other day, Matumbi tribesmen marched on Samanga and destroyed the cotton crop as well as a trading post.

 Unfortunately, Kinjikitile was arrested and hanged for treason. Before his execution, he declared that he had spread the medicine of the rebellion throughout the region. In a couple of weeks,  tribesmen will attack a small party of missionaries on a safari.

It's been two years after most of Europe's most powerful countries have token control of what use to be a beautiful place to live on, Africa. Today I'll be talking about one particular European country that has token over several formal African colonies. This Nation is Germany. Germans began demanding head taxes, and relied heavily on forced labor to build roads and accomplish various other tasks. 

I couldn't believe that the governor also ordered villages to grow cotton as a Cash Crop. Each village was charged with producing a common plot of cotton. The Headmen of the village is left in charge of overseeing the production, a position that left them vulnerable to criticism and rage from the population. The use of regular villagers, who had other things to do, to produce cotton was extremely unpopular across Tanzania. In many places the villagers simply refused to work the land, or refused payment. 

The German policies were not only unpopular but also had serious effects on the lives of Africans. The social fabric of society is being changed rapidly. The social roles of men and women are being change to face the needs of the communities. Since men were forced away from their homes to work, women are now being force to assume some of the traditional male roles.  These effects created a lot of animosity against the government at this period.  Recently a drought has threatened the region. 

The people can't take it no more. Therefore, I have been confirmed that there might be a possibility that there are groups that will try to Rebel against the Germans. For now I cannot expose the leader for this upcoming heroic event. However, I can tell you people that there is a rumor that there is medicine that will protect our people from the Germans weapons.
